Montgomery County now offers up to $7,500 in rebates per residential property!

Plant a Tree:

  • Casey's Trees in DC offers up to $100 rebate for each tree you plant in DC.

  • The State of Maryland offers a $25 rebate for each tree planted in Maryland.

  • Montgomery County has a Tree Program to plant shade trees for FREE.

  • Maryland residents living near a creek or even a drainage ditch can get a “buffer in a bag” designed to assist homeowners who have a waterway on or adjacent to their property to create a streamside buffer of native trees and shrubs.

  • The DC government will plant a tree on your property for free in their River Smart Homes program.

Conservation Landscaping:

* For just $100, DC will come and replace non-native species or your lawn with a native plant habitat. 
* In Montgomery County, you can get back $5-$6 per square foot for planting natives..

Build a Rain Garden:

River Smart Homes will come out and install a rain garden in your yard.
* The Montgomery County RainScapes program offers $10 a square foot rebate.

Install a Rain Barrel:

* In DC for just $30, River Smart Homes will come out and install a rain barrel on your downspouts in your yard or give you a rebate for installing one that you have purchased.
* In Montgomery County, the RainScapes program gives a $250 rebate for a 250 gallon or more rain barrel.

Pervious pavement:

In DC, you can get up to $1,200 for replacing your hard surfaces like sidewalks, driveways and patios with pervious ones.
Montgomery County also offers $14 a square foot for pervious pavement.

Green Roofs and Pavement removal

Both DC and Montgomery County RainScapes program have rebates for removing impervious pavement and for installing green roofs.
