You are invited to join our stream team to at our summer monitoring. Our team participates in the Audubon Naturalist Society Water Quality Monitoring Program. We conduct habitat assessments and collect and identify “benthic macroinvertebrates,” small organisms that live in the streams. Because these organisms exhibit a range of sensitivities to pollutants and stressors, they help us determine the health of the stream.
If you are interested in joining us, please contact Sarah Morse at email@example.com for details. Appropriate for ages 14 and older (with parent supervision).
If you are interested in learning more about the ANS program, visit their website at https://anshome.org/water-quality-monitoring/ Be sure to scroll down to see their list of classes. We are happy to provide scholarships to anyone who would like to become a trained monitor for our creek. But, no need to take the classes to join us at one of our monitoring sessions. We will provide basic training at the site.
