Willett Branch Advocacy Fund

Willett Branch Park will be a Jewel for Westbard and for Montgomery County, a ribbon of green winding through the sector!

In 2015, the notion of transforming the concrete lined eyesore that is the Willett Branch into a naturalized creek and new Stream Valley Park was bantered around.  It was just an idea, but today it is closer to becoming a reality!  LFWA has worked tireless throughout the whole process to advocate for the park.  We have lead tours, met with elected officials, made a movie of the condition, testified for the need and followed the redevelopment in the area to make sure that the new development conforms to the highest environmental standards so that the new park has every advanatage.

We need your help in funding our efforts.

Consultants to review stormwater plans: When necessary, we hire experts in stormwater management to review stormwater management plans and help us with our testimony to make sure our ask is correct and to make sure that the developer being required to meet all the environmental obligations.

Study to show impact of stormwater on the Willett Branch:  In December, we became so concerned that the storm water management plan for the Regency Centers's proposed development was not robust enough that we hired Designgreen, an engineering firm, to review the plans and model the impact on the Willett Branch. The results of the review were significant and have given us a solid backing to demand a more robust plan for Westbard development.
